Sweet Oblivion & Sweet Escape ~ Double Cover Reveal by Bailey Ardisone

-About the Author-

Bailey Ardisone is a collaboration between two sisters who were born and

raised outside of Chicago, Illinois. They combined their creative forces to write the

first book in their series, called Sweet Oblivion. Though the name Bailey Ardisone

applies to both of them, for the sake of answering questions they will each take on

one of the names to make things easier.

The

older sister of the two in Bailey Ardisone, has always loved getting lost in books,

movies, music, and art. Fantasy is her favorite genre. She gets her love of words

from their grandmother who together used to write poems, short stories and even

greeting cards. Her biggest goal would be to travel and explore the world. She loves

going to the beach, enjoys football sundays, and spending time with friends and

family.

The

younger sister of the two in Bailey Ardisone, has always held a strong love for

anything art related. Whether it be drawing, music, or constantly day-dreaming,

her mind never stops imagining wonderful stories and possibilities. She finally got

to put some of those ideas to use with her new found love of writing novels. Some

other things she is forever obsessed with are Japanese Anime and Manga, animals,

traveling, her home city of Chicago and anything in miniature form. One thing she

can never get enough of is sleeping/taking naps and sour skittles.

-About Sweet

Oblivion
-

Sweet

Oblivion received a MAKEOVER! We truly hope you enjoy the new cover art!

When two worlds collide, nightmares become reality. And

some secrets...are best kept in Oblivion.

...Until there is hope.

Have you ever wanted to forget? Nariella Woodlinn

has. Many times. Especially when her already frustrating life gets turned upside

down by a mysterious boy who randomly shows up in her small town. And she can’t

seem to understand anything about him, despite how much she tries.

Nari hates everything about her life, except for her

best friend Rydan, but now that they’ve been separated during their senior year

of high school, she has to learn to make new friends without him. When strange,

unexplainable phenomena start becoming an every day part of her life, Nari

struggles to come to grips with reality. And with love.

~

Naminé has responsibilities. Duties. It is her obligation

to fulfill all that is asked of her by their King. But when a glimmer of hope is

introduced to her by a prisoner she tends to, it means life or death for her and her

people. She does all that she can to turn that hope into reality, and finally end the

vicious war that has been ensuing since she was born. Even if that means keeping it

secret from her King. Even if it means carrying out the biggest betrayal against the

King ever seen during her time.

She has hope. She will fulfill her duty. She will not let

her people down.

-Excerpt-

~Nari~

I suddenly

felt anxious, excited even, at the prospect of

laying eyes on Mycah again. On being enveloped in his woodsy scent. The way my

soul felt complete and whole again only his presence alone could accomplish.

...Were we really just friends?

And then

there he was.

As I took the

last stair, his eyes found mine from the

"Greeting Room" he quietly sat in, drinking from an antique teacup.

He watched

me carefully as he slowly put the cup to his

alluring lips and took a sip. My heart danced wildly in my chest with every

step I took, drawing closer and closer.

I waved at

him, not able to speak just yet.

“Morning,

beautiful,” he whispered. His English accent made

the words sound musical. Or maybe it was his silky voice that did it. Or it

could have been the combination of the two, I really didn’t know. Either way,

my stomach did a flip.

And then I

thought, it must have been the way he was looking

at me, not even trying to hide the desire that flooded his aqua eyes as soon as

they locked onto mine.

The sun

played with his eyes, bringing out the unique colors

and making them more vivid. Even though he was lit up by the streaming sun that

shone brightly through the large bay window, he never looked more

dangerous.

And he never

looked more sexy.

Well, that

could be debatable.

I mean, if you

wanted to count the time he was dripping wet

and practically naked, well then, one really couldn’t say.

But this

moment was definitely a top contender for first

place.

He stood up,

keeping perfect posture and foreign demeanor

exquisitely intact, and came over to me.

“You alright?”

he asked, lips pulling up in a side smile. I

nodded, half hating the spell he always put me under, half totally loving it.

He reached

out and slowly slid his hand into mine,

intertwining our fingers together and pulling me toward the front door. He

chuckled and slightly shook his head at the ground.

Life will never be the same for Nariella Woodlinn.

Just when she thought she had it all figured out, her world comes crumbling down

around her - yet again. She has no idea who she is. She has no idea where she came

from.

She once thought her biggest problems were ones

brought on by the mysterious man she had refused to fall in love with...Mycah. But

she quickly discovers none of that compares to what she is about to encounter

next.

This time, it isn't because of who Mycah is.

This

time
, it's because of who she is.

~

Naminé

risked everything to save her people. Her goal was to bring their only hope back to

their Kingdom. As the war rages on, Naminé gets thrown right into the lion's den -

the false King's chambers. Forced to do his bidding, can she prevent the downfall of

the only hope she worked so hard to bring home?

...Can any of

them Escape?

-Excerpt-

~Nari~

I laid mesmerized from the position on my back, staring up at the

cloudless sky. It was as blue as a Robin’s egg. If not more blue. The sun shown

extremely bright, but the rays did not scorch my skin. The air was comfortable. Very

comfortable. It was the perfect temperature. Warm, without being too warm, and no

humidity.

I did not move.

I was afraid to move in case this was all just a dream and any slight stir

would make it vanish, throwing me back into tormented reality. It must be a dream,

right? Clearly, I had busted my head against the tree trunk and knocked myself

out...And I was only imagining this while Zaylie, I was sure, was worried and trying

to wake me up.

Right?

I could feel the grass beneath me. Soft, lush, exquisite. As if I laid against

the perfect bed made just for me. I was Goldilocks and it was just right.

A colorful bird soared above me. But as it descended closer, obscuring

my view of the sky, I realized it was not actually a bird at all. It was the strangest

butterfly I had ever seen. Its wings were a rainbow of colors - and it was huge. Birdlike huge.

But I didn’t feel frightened or grossed out like I usually did by insects. This

was different. It felt different here. The butterfly flapped its wings so gently and

effortlessly. I numbly reached up while it landed weightlessly on my fingers.

The moment it touched me and started cleaning its antennae, even though

I could barely feel it on me, I got the striking feeling that this was real. Very real. I

quickly sat up, causing the vivid butterfly to take flight again and gazed around the

beauteous expanse encircling me.

Eternal ~ Contest

Okay.

I need a little help with my Eternal series.

Comment on what you think Sebastian should be the god of. I will choose which one I like best, as well as which will fit the books and short stories the best. The winner will receive a FREE ebook of Eternal Beginnings when it's done (only three chapters left to write and some editing)!

Background on Sebastian:

Sebastian is the son of Katricne, the goddess of time (who is responsible for time of death - she predetermines when someone is destined to die - but not how or why) and Tobias, the King of Vampires. He has a twin sister Maya, who is the goddess of the unholy.

He has high morals and has never killed an innocent in all his 2000+ years. Sebastian has the role of he enforcer on The Council, which is responsible for keeping demons in line so that they remain in the shadows to be nothing more than a myth to humanity.

Sebastian is the focus of the third book, Eternal Chance, so I've provided the cover so you can have a visual!

Penelope Bartatto ~ The Woman Behind the Curtain

Once upon a time there was a little girl who discovered the love of reading. Having to fend for myself for almost everything, I learned to read by the age of three, and I haven't stopped yet.

I spent my schooling years being a conundrum to teachers who had no clue what to do with me. When they decided in 2nd grade that a tutor was what I needed, I learned I was reading at a college level and my life became interesting, to say the least. Thankfully by middle school we had moved from small town Wisconsin to slightly bigger town and I was entered into CAP classes that kept me intrigued. I entered college with great hopes to become... a lawyer. Imagine that, me a lawyer. I did have a back-up plan though, I was going to double major in Literature as well. I took more classes in  writing and literature than I did in pre-law before I ran out of funds and left the university life. I dreamed of returning, but life had other plans in store for me.

Fast forward almost ten years, I was the mother of three children under the age of 5. One thing I did to keep my sanity was visit the library regularly and read books. We got our computer in 1996, I remember nursing my youngest as I explored chat rooms on America Online. I soon found myself volunteering on a site within AOL called Moms Online and discussed books. Come 1999 I opened the very first edition of my Book Review Blog The Library at the END of the Universe (http://www.libraryattheendofuniverse.com/) and there I simply started to share my reviews of any book I read. Within a year I had developed a huge following and started connecting with publishers, authors, and public relations agents and found I could review books per request. Warning it is very easy to allow yourself to get overwhelmed with the temptation of a free book. This was before the eBook revolution.

I took a short break and reopened my blog, thankfully under the same name, and then another break in 2010 due to health reasons. In 2011 I returned to the scene and was surprised to see how things had changed.

Book tours had suddenly exploded across the scene, I had done a few in the old days, but thought I could join in. I joined crew after crew, and soon found myself overwhelmed and quickly buried under books. Some good, some bad. In January 2013 I opened my own tour company though Around the Universe Tours (http://aroundtheuniversetours.blogspot.com/). I thought I could offer a different twist on the typical tours that were producing what became boring cookie cutter posts. So far we've had a fair amount of success with the tours, and I enjoy meeting new authors from all genre of literature. This company also opened the door for me to become a Public Relations Agent for a few authors, which is a rewarding job.

Thus it is clear I love to read, but I also love to write. I spent a number of years working as a freelance writer, which is rewarding but also limits your creativity. I started doing NaNoWriMo in 2006 (National Novel Writing Month) and found I enjoyed being creative and writing something fun and fictional. From there, I have joined the ranks of published authors via anthology, and am aiming to release my first full length novel in 2014. You can find me writing at Spoilers, Sweetie (http://spoilerssweetie.blogspot.com/) My current novel is a YA Fantasy novel, and I am also working on a horror short story for another anthology.

She doesn’t want to believe it but could it be the man she has fallen madly in love with is a killer? Could she be the next to die?

Excerpt From Love on a Killer Cruise:

As if the pain in my head wasn't enough, my eyes popped open as I felt a sharp pain on my face along with a loud noise. My vision was blurred to the point that all I could see was that I was in a dimly lit room and there was a black figure in front of me. It was squatting over me, and although it was only inches away, the figures face was hidden in the shadow of a large hood over their head.
“So, I finally got you my little whore.” The voice was raspy and deep. I knew for sure it was a man and that he was trying to disguise his voice.
He held a gun in front of my face; like the one that had been in my bag. “You thought this would protect you from me? You didn’t think I knew you had it?” He tossed the gun onto my lap and then held out his hands. “There you go, take your best shot at me.” Hysterically laughter filled the air. “Shoot me.”
Gathering all my strength I asked, “Who are you?”
“Oh, don’t act like you didn’t know. I was on your little list.”
My list? “How…”
“You didn’t think I knew about this?” He reached behind his back and pulled out my notebook. “Come on, let’s not play this game. I have more fun ones in mind.”
“Why are you doing this to me?” I begged.
He sat down next to me, careful to keep his face in the shadow. “Who, how, why,” He mocked, in a whinny voice. “Such a whinny little whore! So many questions, yet you won’t answer mine. You know who I am Sarah. Guess!”
Every time I tried to think of one thing too long it hurt. The pain flared up in my head again and everything went black.
The shadowed man smacked me awake again, this time it was hard, making my head snap back and bang against some hard surface. “You stupid whore! You still think you are too good for me don’t you? Such a teasing whore to some men but you spread your legs for the pretty boy, and led another man on at the same time. But, me? Oh, you reject me! Looked at me as though I was some pathetic specimen of a man! That is why you are here. That is why you have to die!”

The Star ~ C. Warner-Thompson Release Blitz

Genre: Young Adult, Urban Fantasy

Abbii had been afraid of the dark for four long years. She hated the eerie silence that filled the night.

She would often try to forget by closing her eyes at night, but she would always be met by dreams of Shadows that would attack her, dragging her into the Darkness. Most nights, she would simply lie there with her bedding wrapped tightly around her, staring at the light coming in through her window, hoping that she would drift off into a dreamless sleep.

Ever since that day four years ago, the dark had frightened her; she had thought it would be a curse throughout the whole of her life, but something changed when she met him.

The dark seemed to lose its power and the moon’s light brightened.

Her dreams didn’t stop; nightmares still stole her sleep, but there was always a figure of Light that would save her and allow her to wake.

He said the same thing every night in her dreams. Keep fighting, Abbii.

She thought that he was part of her imagination, someone that she had created to save her, until she met him and was drawn into his bright hazel eyes.

His name was Nate.

Excerpt:

“I have faith in you, Abbii…”

Inhaling a breath, she allowed her fear to subside as she concentrated. She laid her empty hand by the side of Nate’s wound, feeling the warmth of skin spark against her own, and then poured the bottle with no further delay.

Nate’s body tensed and he clenched his hands into fists. No sound left his lips, but it was obvious that the pain was overwhelming. Abbii watched the alcohol mix with his blood, allowing it to grow thin until little blood actually remained. Taking hold of the towel from Nate’s grasp, she wiped his wound to clean the surrounding skin, and then repeated the wash with liquor. She placed the bottle on the floor and then wiped the wound clean for a second time, moving closer to examine it.

Pleased that it had been cleaned, Abbii took hold of the needle and thread, biting off as much as she needed. Threading the needle, she extended her hand, hovering it over Nate’s side. He had grown quiet, but Abbii could see that he was still awake; she could sense that he would lose consciousness soon if his wound was not sealed correctly.

She lowered her hand but stopped as something caught her attention. Ignoring the fact that her hand was shaking, Abbii could see a glisten of light at the tip of each of her fingers. Placing the needle and thread next to Nate, Abbii focused onto her hand, realising that she could sense her powers.

I wonder…

She glanced at the window to see that little light was visible due to the layer of snow which fell from the sky. The lamp at her side was also giving little light, as only its aura was lit and not the actual light itself. Abbii wondered how her powers had appeared without a specific source of energy fuelling them, but it took her only a moment to let the thought pass. Placing her one hand flat against Nate’s skin, so that his wound was between her thumb and index finger, she then moved her opposite directly above Nate’s injury.

“What are you doing?” Nate stirred, trying to see Abbii’s movements.

She ignored him and kept her hand against his skin. “Let me try,” she whispered.

Nate lay back down, proving that he had heard Abbii’s reply. The warmth from his body seemed to increase all of a sudden, but Abbii presumed it was due to the fact that her own skin had increased in temperature, and not Nate’s. As she moved towards his side, the light at her fingertips brightened until her whole hand shone like a star. She watched as the light seemed to fill Nate’s wound, soothing it with small shockwaves of energy.

Her fingertips lay against his skin which brightened her magic further. An image of Nate’s face appeared in her mind as she watched his wound start to heal ever so slightly, but she took no notice of it, and instead focused her concentration. Nate’s skin started to move, regenerating its wounded layers at a steady pace. Abbii started to feel light-headed, but she ignored the feeling and kept her magic bright. The deepest parts of Nate’s injury had been healed, but the top layers of his skin were still torn.

“You can stop now.” Nate tried to sit up, but Abbii would not allow him.

“I can do this,” she whispered.

Giving her no choice this time, Nate pushed himself to sit upright, grabbing hold of Abbii’s glowing hand tightly. As soon as his skin came into contact with her hand, she lost her balance and leaned against his shoulder. She found it hard to catch her breath and fatigue seemed to consume her; it had been a whole day since Abbii had slept.

“Rest, Abbii,” Nate soothed, stroking her hair away from her face.

Author Bio:

I was born in England in the West Midlands in 1991 where I am still currently living, growing up alongside one younger and three older brothers.

Books and writing was an interest that I began to develop from the first years of secondary school, and on my thirteenth birthday, I began to plan and design the idea to write a fantasy novel. I finished secondary school with high GCSE’s and then went on into further education to study English and all aspects of art and design. After six years of writing, planning and overall editing of the book, it was successfully completed, containing over 82,000 words, and self published in the first week of 2011.

With high expectations in myself, I immediately began to write a second novel in the series, while keeping my art and design a part of the process. The achievement of completing the first novel ‘Purest Light,’ allowed the ideas of the second to flow much easier and it was completed by early 2012. As I was writing the third and final book, New Beginnings, at the same time, the series was finished by its publication in 2013.

Writing is now a part of my everyday and I have started on my newest project, The Star, which is also planned to be the first of three. Only time will tell.
